How To Make Air Fryer Baked Potatoes

Baked potatoes are a complete dinner itself when done it properly and garnished. It is nice and crispy outside and fluffy inside.

It’s helpful to know which potato kinds are ideal for certain cooking methods, for e.g high-starch potatoes like Idaho and other russets are excellent for baking whole. Make sure all of your potatoes are about the same size for even cooking in the air fryer.

How To Make Baked Potatoes in Air Fryer

To remove any dirt, scrub all potatoes thoroughly and then pat them dry before cooking.

Toss the potatoes with just enough oil to coat them and then rub with salt and pepper. Place them in the air fryer basket single layer. Don’t overcrowd the basket; you’ll want to leave enough area for air to circulate around each potato.

The most air fryer can fit 2-4 potatoes depending on their size. Make sure the potatoes are all lying flat (not stacked on top of each other).

Set the air fryer temperature to 400 degrees and set the timer for 45 minutes (depending on the number and size of potatoes). Check them halfway through cooking, and turn them over using tongs.

Cook until skins are golden and crispy. When you insert a knife it should go through the flesh with no resistance. Garnish cooked potatoes with your favorite toppings.

Ingredients
  

  • 4 Potatoes
  • 2 tbsp Oil Avacado oil, Canola, Coconut oil etc.
  • 1/2 tsp Salt
  • 1/2 tsp Black Pepper
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder Optional

For Topping

  • Butter
  • Topping of your choice, spring onion, chives, bacon, ham, shredded cooked chicken, turkey, ground beef, etc
  • Grated cheese (mozzarella/cheddar)

Instructions
 

  • Wash and clean Whole baking potatoes, and pat them dry(1 per person). Pierce them with the tines of a fork.
  • Rub whole baking potatoes with oil and sprinkle them with salt and black pepper (optional). If you like garlic flavour, you can add that as well.
  • Lay them directly on the air fryer basket.
  • Set the air fryer temperature to 400 degrees and set the timer for 45 minutes (depends on the number and size of potatoes)
  • Check them halfway through cooking, and turn them over using tongs.

For Topping

  • Cut the potatoes in half lengthwise. Squeeze both sides of each potato with your hands, pushing the potatoes to open up. Fill each potato with 1 tbsp of butter.

Everyone seems to like potatoes and the toppings are endless. The easiest way to add topping is by making a slit on the top and then squeezing it from both sides lightly. Make it fluffy using a fork and top with any of these.

If you like to melt the cheese, then cook for another 5 minutes in the air fryer, or until golden brown and the cheese has melted. If desired, garnish with green onions and a dollop of sour cream.
