I was looking for a tasty broccoli recipe that is easy to make. After experimenting with many different variations this stovetop broccoli recipe is the best that our family loves. I made this many times and it consistently came out perfect.
This recipe is so quick so you may want to get all ingredients ready before start cooking.
Ingredients for stovetop broccoli
- One head of broccoli: Wash and clean very well. Separate the florets from the stems. We are not using the stem for this recipe but you can keep them for other recipes like soup. Try to cut them into equal pieces in size so that they all cook at the same time. I usually cut the big florets into half, cut from the stem, and when it reaches the crown just pull it apart. This way none of the little florets break and there won’t be many crumbles from the broccoli. One large broccoli yields about 4 cups of cut pieces.
- Onion Powder
- Garlic Powder or fresh garlic (4-5 cloves): Adjust the quantity to your personal preference. I like garlic and usually put around 5 cloves. The best technique to remove the skin from garlic is to place it on your cutting board, put your knife on top of it, and gently tap it. This will splits the skin and you can peel them off. Chop them finely.
- Black Pepper
- Salt
- Butter
- Vegetable Oil or Olive Oil.
- Water
