Cinnamon-Raisin French Toast on the stove

Cinnamon-Raisin French Toast on the stove

French toast is a popular dish in many parts of the world, and it has the added benefit of being a great way to use up leftover bread. When making French toast, the most common mistake is not soaking the bread long enough to allow the batter to absorb into the bread. If you just dip the bread in the batter, you’ll end up with dry bread with a little egg on the exterior.

French toast is similar to pancakes, can be served with maple syrups, butter, fruits, or dusted with powdered sugar.

French Toast

Homemade French Toast is the world's easiest and most underappreciated breakfast meal. Take bread and dip it in a basic custard dish before toasting it in a pan. It doesn't get any simpler than that. French toast is made by dipping pieces of bread in a batter made of eggs, milk, a little sugar, and flavorings. French toast, like pancakes, is cooked on a griddle.

Batter: The normal liquid is milk, which is blended with egg in varying amounts but Cream or sour cream may be included as other variants.
Flavorings. Popular spices include cinnamon, vanilla, and nutmeg. Other options are powdered anise, grated lemon, and orange rind.
If you like a little bit of caramelized taste you can sprinkle icing sugar on the toast and then cook for 30 sec on both sides.
