Spicy Garlic Edamame

These spicy garlic edamame beans are a high-protein healthy snack. It is easy to prepare and delicious.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 pound frozen or Fresh edamame in the shell.
  • 2 tbsp olive oil or butter can be used.
  • 4 garlic cloves minced garlic
  • 1/2 tsp red chili flakes Adjust to your spiciness
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • 1/2 tsp sea salt

Instructions
 

  • Mince garlic and set aside all ingredients
  • Boil water in a skillet over medium-high heat. Add 1 tsp salt to the water.
  • Add the frozen edamame and let the water boil again.
  • After 3-4 minutes, turn off heat and drain off the water. Set aside cooked edamame.
  • Heat a skillet or wok over medium heat and add 2 tbsp olive oil.
  • Add minced garlic and stir for 30 seconds, do not burn the garlic. No need to brown the garlic.
  • Add edamame back to the pan and toss the edamame to mix with garlic.
  • Add 1/2 tsp red chili flakes and cook for 1-2 minutes
  • Now add soy sauce and sesame oil, then toss together to coat the sauce on edamame.
  • Sprinkle with sea salt and serve hot.

Notes

I used olive oil as a healthy option. Butter also can be used.
Make sure not to burn the garlic. If you like the flavor of ginger you can add 1 tsp minced ginger. 
Adjust the chili flakes to your taste.
