Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 425°F.
Sear the Steaks
Heat a large, heavy-bottomed pan over medium-high heat for a few minutes.
Add oil to the pan. Once hot, carefully place steaks in the pan.
Sear steaks for 2–3 minutes on the first side without moving them.
Flip steaks onto a different hot spot in the pan and sear for another 2–3 minutes until a deep brown crust forms.
Add Butter and Garlic
Remove steaks and place them in a baking dish.
In the same hot pan, add butter and whole garlic.
Once butter is melted, stir in thyme (or other favorite herbs).
Return steaks to the pan briefly and spoon the butter mixture over the steaks to coat well.
Transfer steaks and all the butter mixture back to the baking dish.
