Remove the skin from chicken legs and trim off any excess fat before cooking. Wash and drain any water from the chicken. For this recipe I prefer to remove the skin from the chicken legs.
Pat the chicken dry with a paper towel to remove any extra liquid.
Make two or three slits in each drumstick with a knife be careful; they are slippery.
Add the chicken pieces in to a ziploc bag
Marinate Chicken
In a medium mixing bowl combine all ingredients under “For Marinate Chicken”
Pour the marinade into chicken Legs and combine it all together to make sure all chicken pieces are coated very well with the marinade.
Marinate chicken for at least 60 minutes but for the best flavour, allow the chicken to marinade for 2-12 hours.
Arrange in the Air Fryer
Lightly grease the air fryer basket with cooking spray or by using an oil mister.
Place the chicken legs in the air fryer basket in a single layer. Most air fryers require batch cooking to retain the food in a single layer and let air to flow. Optional: Lightly spray chicken legs with oil.
Cook the Chicken:
Put the basket back into the air fryer and cook the drumsticks at 375°F (190°C) for 20-25 minutes, turning them halfway through the cooking time. Cooking times might vary depending on your air fryer model and the size of the drumsticks.
Check for Doneness:
The chicken is done when its internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C) and the outside is golden brown.
Serve
Once cooked, carefully remove the drumsticks from the air fryer and let them rest for a few minutes before serving. This helps retain their juices.
Notes
Because this recipe was created to operate with a variety of air fryers the cooking time stated is an estimate. It’s possible that your air fryer will take a little longer or shorter than the time listed.
