Hi, I’m Jesse
Welcome! I am happy you are here. Sadhya is a food blog for people who love fresh, flavourful homemade food. I believe you can make great food with everyday ingredients without the need for expensive specialty ingredients or equipment. It’s all about how to be cooking smart and creative.
In this space, we include different cuisine from around the world as well as traditional South Indian and fusion recipes. Sometimes a few simple ingredients can transform into a dish that tastes amazing and fresh
I am passionate about food, trying out recipes, reading cookbooks, travel – all of it. My goal is to inspire you with food that is flavourful, easy to make, and exciting, whether you’re cooking for your family or friends.
I love to invite friends and have a great time around the table. Food connects us, I think everyone can agree that we all come together with food.
My Story
Have you ever heard of a place that is known as “God’s own Country”? It is located in South India and is considered one of the 20 must-see places in the world. It is well known for its natural beauty and tropical weather. I was born and brought up in this beautiful state of India called “Kerala”.
We had so many different types of fruits on our land, mangoes, papaya, guava, mulberries so forth. I had lots of fun growing up in the countryside, like climbing trees, catching fish, and socializing with other kids.
Our house was located in the magnificent countryside with a creek and a paddy field beyond. During the summer vacation, we spend most of our time in the stream, which is home to a variety of small species. We caught fish using long towels as a net and it was so much fun.
I have two siblings, a brother, and a sister. My parents, particularly my father, have always encouraged us to study and achieve our best potential. My mother was a great cook, and we really enjoy her food. She taught me a lot about south Indian cooking.
The education system in India is little different than in Canada. We had 10 years of school, 2 years pre-university, undergraduate, master’s, etc. I did my Masters’s Degree in Electronics. I wanted to be a teacher at that time. It was a common career path for women.
My Professional Career
I completed my studies in computer science and most of my professional career is in software development. As part of the job I got an opportunity to travel to Costa Rica with my teams, and also to other places around the world. During these years our kids have grown up. Our daughter is a Doctor and doing a residency and our son is also started his work in the food industry.
I love traveling and our favorite destination was Peru. There are more places on my list that I like to visit.
We all make choices, and these choices make us. It’s definitely true in my life. I’ve been blessed with wonderful opportunities to grow personally and professionally after moving to North America. We all have the freedom to become anything we want to be if we are willing to work hard and if we want bad enough.
Be thankful for what you have. Love your kids. Enjoy little moments in Life, We can NOT look back, look forward.
I am entering into next phase of my life, setting new goals. It is just the beginning of a new journey that is still in design. I enjoy cooking and trying out recipes. I like to share what I have learned and am excited to share it with others.
Thank you very much for taking the time to read my story, and I would greatly appreciate it if you took a quick moment to sign up for our newsletter.
